NG453Y remained in the register until 1976 but from 1947 was N453Y. Lustig Sky Train was an experiment to see if gliders could be used to deliver mail. The plan was for three gliders to be towed by a single powered aircraft from New York. Over Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC one glider would detach and land with the mail. There was at least one Sky Train mail flight in August 1934. The glider in the photo is having a radio installed ahead of the experiment.
