Originally built as a Do.28-2. Modified to the Dornier Do-28D-5X TurboSky prototype with Lycoming LTP-101-600 turboprops in 1978 then modified to the prototype Dornier Do-28D-6X with PT6A-110 turboprops in 1980. Used as a research aircraft by TU Braunschweig - Technische Universität Braunschweig for 36 years. Preserved at Oberschleissheim from 2021.
