'Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam. 1965.' HMM-162 had its last deployment at Da Nang from March to May 1965, in support of the first regular American ground troops arriving in Vietnam. Their mission was to defend this important airfield. They brought MIM-23 Hawk missiles and we think this is a Hawk site - note the small trailer behind the helicopter.
