The Canadair CL28 (CP107) was a Canadian adaptation of the Bristol Britannia with four Wright R-3350 engines for long range anti-submarine patrol missions. A total of 33 were built and they flew for two decades with 5 squadrons (Nos. 404, 405, 407, 415, 449) from bases in Greenwood, NS, Summerside, PEI and Comox, BC. Argus 20717 (later 10717, but now painted as 107717) was accepted in June 1958 and spent most of its career based at Greenwood until retired in March 1980. Five Argus are displayed at museums (Ottawa, Trenton, Summerside, Greenwood & Comox) and a sixth stored by WCAM at Gimli, MB. This photo is copyright © Kenneth I.
