During the Vietnam war this KC-135A was converted to 'Combat Lightning' configuration to perform radio-relay duties over the Gulf of Tonkin. Subsequently converted back to a tanker and then to an E she went on to serve with the 314th ARS/ 940th ARW at Beale AFB, CA before being retired to AMARG during March 2008 where it is stored with the PCN/Inventory No. AACA0183.
