Aircraft built to break world altitude record. After climbing free of other traffic, the pilot would lower himself into a pressurized compartment. Initially only capable of reaching 5000 m, F-AKFK was rebuilt in 1935 as the parasol wing F.1001. It crashed on 5 August 1935 after a window broke at altitude and pilot Marcel Cognot died. He had reached 34,000 ft according to the barograph on board. Photo from: Photo Bibliothèque nationale de France - Gallica
