This slide was taken on the Carrier Air Wing ramp at NAS Cubi Point. This area was used by carrier air wings when deployed to the Far East. Squadrons would fly off some aircraft there so as to be able to conduct flight operations when the carrier was in port. In 1977 this A-7B was transferred to VA-303, a reserve squadron based at NAS Alameda, CA. In 1983 it was sent to NAS Memphis, TN. where it was used as a ground instructional trainer. It is currently on display at the USS Lexington Museum in Corpus Christi, TX. This photo is copyright © Bob Thomas, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
