To commemorate the last year of operation of the F-14 Tomcat, 164601 was painted in retro colours and did several display flights during the 2005 Oceana Air Show. Two days after the show, on 20 September 2005, the Tomcat was flown to Merced Castle Air Force Base (CA) to join the collection of the Castle Air Museum.
