An important early aircraft was the Taube (Dove) designed by Igo Etrich, an Austrian. It was built in many variations by a dozen German companies, Jeannin Fllugzeugbau from Berlin - Johannisthal producing the Stahltaube with a a steel tube fuselage frame. Unmanoeuvrable, the Taube proved vulnerable as a warplane. This photo is copyright © Peter de Jong, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
