VH-BUD was registered to Opal Air in 1967 and flew with company into the 1980s. In 2017 it was the oldest Cessna 402 still on the Australian register. This Opal Air, which was the first approved Australian third-level airline, ceased operations in 1986 and is not same Opal Air operating in South Australia in 2017.
