A rarely seen bird! The C-160H Astarte (which meant Avion Station Relais de Transmissions Exceptionelles) was a modified Transall used as an airborne relay station for special VLF/ELF transmissions with French nuclear submarines. Four aircraft were modified and served within Squadron "Bigorre" (EE 01-059) based in Evreux air base from 1992 to 2001. All were scrapped in Chateaudun air base.
