Most Piper Super Cubs arriving in the New Zealand in the 1950s were for cropdusting. ZK-BNM however was delivered to the Canterbury Aero Club at Harewood (Canterbury International) airport. The C-124 in "Arctic" markings in the background would have been transiting Christchurch for Antarctica. Christchurch is a resupply base for the Americans' Antarctic program.
