This striking S-3 was built by Lockheed at Burbank and delivered to the Navy in 1978 as the 184th of 187 Vikings built. She latterly served with Sea Control Squadron 21 (VS-21) at Naval Air Field Atsugi, Japan and deployed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. The superb markings were applied in 2004 for the disestablishment of VS-21 and she was SOC during April 2005, transferring to AMARG as AN2S0070. The distinctive scheme obviously saved her as she is now on display at the amazing Pima Air & Space Museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
