Photographer: Not known. K64 slide scan. Delivered 1977 to Tarom as YR-AMW outfitted as VIP aircraft. Cancelled 1983 as exported for use by PLO leader Yasser Arafat. TAGB J5-GAE February 1989, reregistered J5-GBE June 1989. Overhauled at Baneasa 1991, crashed 7 April 1992 near Maaten-al-Sarra in Libya on a flight from Khartoum to Tunis after encountering a sandstorm in the Sahara Desert. While the crew was killed Arafat and his entourage survived. This photo was added on 3 December 2023, and has since been viewed 463 times. |
