This aircraft had been one of the four original KC-135R (Reconnaissance) and was converted to the first KC-135E back in January 1982. It underwent flight testing as both a tanker and a receiver. In March 1982 it returned to the 55th Wing at Offutt AFB and is now used as a SRATCOMM command support airplane.
