The Pützer Elster (Magpie) was a single-engined light aircraft, manufactured in Bonn, of which some 45 units were built, and is notable beacuse it was the first aircraft produced in Germany after WWII in any significant numbers. The Elster B was the main production version, operated by the Luftwaffe and Marineflieger sport flying groups. These aircraft were initially operated with civilian registrations but were allocated military serials in 1971, this example was 9707. In 1978 the maintenance contract with Pützer expired and the aircraft were sold on for civilian use. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
