Taxiing out from its Howey Bay dock at the 2000 Red Lake Norseman Festival. Modified much earlier with panoramic widows and a metal skinned fuselage. Built as USAAF UC-64A 43- 5376. Carried out work in South America in the 1950s and '60s. Became N47801 in 1971. Exported to Canada in 1981 as C-FKAS. Rebuilt after a 1995 crash in the Gulf Islands, BC, when a float strut failed and it cartwheeled and sank. Joined West Caribou Air Service at Staunton Lake, Ontario in 1997. The metal fuselage allowed detailed murals to be painted on both sides. This photo is copyright © David A. Montgomery, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
