VH-GNJ was withdrawn from use in 2021 after 10 years on the register. It is a 1930 American design copying the Zögling primary glider that had been developed in Germany a few years earlier. Northrop is Marvin Northrop, of Minneapolis, and not the famous aircraft designer Jack Northrop, of California. VH-GNJ was built in the early 1970s but has spent most of its existence in storage or as a museum exhibit.
