The aircraft was built in December 1963 at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur plant and was part of the very first delivery to Czechoslovakia, a ferry flight of almost 8,000 km. Soviet pilots handed it over in mid-April 1964 for 28th sbolp, where it was used to retrain domestic technicians and then pilots for the type. Around 1980 or 1981, at the Malacky shooting range, a young, inexperienced pilot miscalculated, had to take drastic evasive action to avoid terrain and 'bent' the airframe. The plane had to be retired and after 30 years of storage at Trenčin (LZTN) it was moved to LZNI for display.
