PSA phased out the Electra in 1969 but the type made a comeback in their very seventies colours in 1975 to serve Lake Tahoe, which did not allow full-jet airliners. Among the four airframes acquired was N171PS, which had been PSA's first Electra in 1959. By mid-1978 this aircraft was in the revised orange-red colour scheme as PSA had found that the pink did not weather well. The L-188 was finally retired in 1979.
