On display at a roundabout in Lignano Sabbiadoro and dedicated as a memorial to former Frecce Tricolori pilot Maj Pasqualino Gorga who was killed whilst flying RF-104G MM6646/3/50. The plane was in a formation of three that had departed Villafranca and were practicing manoeuvres over the sea near Marano Lagunare (off Udine). The Major, whilst attempting to rejoin the other two aircraft, flew a tight left turn but lost situational awareness and crashed into the water. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
