Delivered to USN as a F6F-5N in May 1945 and converted to a F6F-5K in 1956. At NAS Pensacola for display at the National Naval Aviation Museum 1957-1972. Acquired by Aerial Classics of Atlanta, GA. from 1972-1984 and registered as N79863. On display on the USS Hornet Museum in Patriots Point, SC. from 1986-1991. Exported to Great Britain from 1991-2001. Back to U.S. in 2001 and is currently owned by the Wartime History Museum in Washington state (formerly the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum). Registration N79863 is still active with FAA.
