Delivered to USN as a F6F-5N in May 1945 and converted to a F6F-5K in 1956. At NAS Pensacola for display at the National Naval Aviation Museum 1957-1972. Acquired by Aerial Classics of Atlanta, GA. from 1972-1984 and registered as N79863. On display on the USS Hornet Museum in Patriots Point, SC. from 1986-1991. Exported to Great Britain from 1991-2001. Back to U.S. in 2001 and is currently owned by the Wartime History Museum in Washington state (formerly the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum).
