This P-36 is the very first from a total of 243 delivered to the Army Air Corps. It is now on display at the National Museum of the USAF and painted to represent the P-36A flown by Lt. Philip Rasmussen during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7th Dec. 1941. Under fire, Rasmussen managed to take-off, engage 11 Japanese fighters and shoot one down. For his actions, Lt. Rasmussen was awarded the Silver Star. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
