This Hei night fighter version (one of 477) is the last known surviving 'Nick' of the 1,700 built by Kawasaki. It was one of about 145 Japanese aircraft brought to the US aboard the USS Barnes for evaluation after WWII. The USAAF donated the Toryu to the Smithsonian in June 1946 and it is currently on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center, This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
