VH-DES was one of two Thorps built in Australia by Descon and known for a while as Descon Sky Scooters. They were classified as homebuilts and -DES in 1968 had its manufacturer serial number changed from A8 to N13 in the homebuilt series. The aircraft was current in 2017.
