'The Amerika-Zeppelin ZR-3 during its first test flight over Friedrichshafen, 1924. ' The date should be 27 August. To be named USS Los Angeles, the large airship was built for the US Navy and was flown to Lakehurst in October. The Delphin II could carry up to six passengers in its cabin plus one next to the pilot. D-401, which crashed on a test flight, is seen moored on Lake Constance just west of the old town of Friedrichshafen.
