In Februari 2018 160898 restored, and repainted to resemble 'Fast Eagle 107' (BuNo 160390) of VF-41 'Black Aces' operating from the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in 1981. On August 19th, 1981 'Fast Eagle 107' flown by LT Lawrence 'Music' Muczynski and LT JG James 'Luca' Anderson (RIO) managed to shoot down a Libyan Air Force Sukhoi Su-22M2K Fitter. This kill, and another one in the same engagement by Fast Eagle 102 (BuNo 160403) were the first air-to-air victories for the F-14 Tomcat - and the US Navy's first air-to-air engagements since the Vietnam War This photo is copyright © Coert van Breda, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
