This is a pre-production Lynx and has the claim to fame in that it was the first helicopter to do a barrel roll. This was enabled by the innovative rotor head design that even allowed it to fly backwards at up to 80 mph. XX153 was used for training, air shows and equipment trials before being restored to static display standard by trainees at Westland Helicopters. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
