The Bird Dog was developed in the late 1940 as an obervation and liason aeroplane for the US Army. The type was flown by UK Army pilots during the Korean War in support of ground troops and was, in fact, preferred by many British officers to the Auster Mk.9. The US Army presented this example to the MoAF in 1982. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
