Ex VH-ECD. ZK-TED was photographed being prepared for handover to Air New Zealand, which had leased it. It had been delivered to Qantas in 1959 and on April 27, 1963, operated the first Qantas Electra service from Sydney to Johannesburg (via Melbourne, Perth, Cocos Islands and Mauritius), surely the longest scheduled Electra service of all time. ZK-TED was sold in April 1971 to Nomads, a travel club, as N863E This photo is copyright © David Carter, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
