The VC-6A was primarily used to transport President Johnson and his family between Bergstrom AFB, TX and the family ranch near Stonewall. The aircraft became informally known as the 'Lady Bird Special', a play on the childhood nickname "Lady Bird" of First Lady Claudia Johnson. This plane was retired to the NMUSAF in September 1985 and is now on display in the Presidential Gallery within the newer, fourth building. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
