The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador owns five CL415s for aerial fire fighting and two King Air B300/B300Cs for air ambulance patient transfers. The hull of this aircraft was substantially damaged while making its sixth scoop from Whitehead Pond, NL on September 15, 2018 when it struck some hidden rocks at high speed. The damaged aircraft was flown back to Gander Airport and grounded. The aircraft has been out of service for six fire seasons (as of 2024). DHC has made a proposal to the Government to repair C-FOFI and upgrade the four operational CL415s. It's become a political issue. This photo is copyright © Kenneth I.
