It had been leased from Edair Inc in January 1985 and returned just 2 days after this photograph. According to one of the Southern captains, this Convair contributed greatly to the downfall of the airline as it required a great deal of maintenance and flew very little. Southern Express had started operations in May 1984 and filed for Chapter 11 in December 1985. It ceased all operations by January 1986. Edair re-registered the Convair N440ED.
