This aircraft is painted in the colours that flown by FL Jack Cleland (RNZAF) in the 8th USAF, 357 FG, 361 FS during WWII. There appears to be some confusion in the previous identities of this airframe, possibly arising from rebuild after a crash in 1977, although she was built in 1944 and delivered to the USAF as 44-73415.
