This Eagle was delivered to the USAF in the 1980s and arrived brand-new at Soesterberg. It served the Wolfhounds up to 14 April 1992 and was returned to CONUS and assigned to the 95th FS of the 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall AFB (FL). The F-15C crashed into Gulf of Mexico some 100 miles south of Tyndall AFB (FL) on 15 March 1993. The pilot was able to eject safely and was picked up. The aircraft was later recovered and its wreck was reported at Tyndall in January 1996. Its tailsection was already preserved at Tyndall from November 1995. So far nothing is revealed about the cause of the crash. This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
