The first Ryan ST for the US Navy. The first flight of the NR-1 occurred on 4 August 1941 according to the Pensacola museum. Only one batch of 100 NR Recuits was procured by the US Navy - small ale by World War II standards. They served at NAS Jacksonville, NAS Memphis and NAAS Cecil Field until 1944.
