Delivered in 1969 and soon converted to KA-6D tanker version. Became the A-6E prototype in November 1977 and continued operational use until its flying days ended 16 years later at AMARC. To the museum late 1995, initially on display with its last unit's markings as NJ-562. Repainted by September 2011 as shown, having joined VA-165 in 1984. This squadron made two cruises aboard the Kitty Hawk with Carrier Air Wing 9, to the WestPac and Indian Ocean in 1985 and a World Cruise in 1987.
