Like so many of the aircraft in the outdoor storage area, this Herc's paintwork is suffering badly from weathering. While on loan to the Naval Air Test Center from VR-1, in October and November 1963 it made history by making 21 full-stop landings and unassisted take-offs on the USS Forrestal, so becoming the largest and heaviest aircraft to land on a carrier. At the time it was marked 'Look Ma, No Hook'. Transferred to the USMC at the end of 1963.
