The N3N was the final biplane in US military service - the last used by the US Naval Academy were not retired until 1959. It was also unusual in that it was built by a government-owned organisation. The yellow floatplane versions were nicknamed "Yellow Peril" and this example is BuNo 1759 painted as 2693 which was destroyed in an accident in 1941 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
