'On the ground at Hurn, Hampshire, before taking off on the inaugural BOAC / Qantas flight to Sydney.' Unfortunately, IWM do not provide dates with their photos online but this flight took off on 31 May 1945, piloted by Capt E Palmer. Flying time was 63 hours. The aircraft wears both the Speedbird logo and small BOAC titles above the tailplane. Photo from: Imperial War Museums This photo was added on 16 January 2025, and has since been viewed 141 times. |
