This B-52 was Eglin-based early in its career while with SAC's 4135th Strategic Wing. By 1987 it was assigned to the 97th BW at Blytheville AFB, AR and next by 1990 to the 2nd BW at Barksdale AFB, LA. In January 1991 it was one of seven B-52Gs that made the round trip (code named "Secret Squirrel") from Barksdale to fire 39 cruise missiles on the first night of Desert Storm. Later in 1991 went on display at back at Eglin This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
