On tundra tyres, taxiing past the Buffalo Airways hangar and heading for a Runway 34 departure from its Yellowknife Airport base. Carries the bat logo of 440 Transport Squadron on its tail. Taken on charge new by the Canadian Armed Forces in 1971. Just two weeks later, on 23 August 2012, seriously damaged when the nose wheel gear collapsed after sinking into soft ground just on the point of takeoff from rough terrain during training near Horn Lake, southwest of Inuvik, NT. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the 6 occupants. Repaired and returned to service. This photo is copyright © David A.
