The US Navy used this F-5F, former USAF 75-0754, from June 1983 onwards. First it was assigned to the NFWS Top Gun, then transferred to VFA-127 Cyclones (as pictured). The Tiger II later served VF-43 and VF-45 before moved to VFC-13. It was written off on 13 June 2008 when it collided mid-air over Middlegate (NV, some 50 miles east of Fallon) with F/A-18C 164657/AJ-306 of VFA-15. Both crew of the F-5 ejected safely., the pilot of the Hornet did not survive the incident.
