The prototype of the two-seat night fighter variant of the DH.112 Venom, first flown on 22 August 1950 as a private venture. The wooden fuselage nacelle was still made of wood, but the Venom NF.2 entered RAF service as a stopgap due to the late arrival of the Gloster Javelin. The NF.2 had dangerous shortcomings and needed to be replaced by the Venom NF.3. The NF.2 was only operated by No 23 Sqn and, in export Mk.51 form, by Sweden.
