This plane is in reality ex-D-EFHO and previously flew with the West German AF as AS-907, AC-907 and 55-47. After retirement it became part of the now-closed Luftfahrt- und Technik-Museumspark Merseburg but is now preserved on the central roundabout at the entrance to EDMO. It has been painted in this zebra colour scheme to commemorate the original Do-27 D-ENTE (cn 2001) of zoologist/filmmaker Michael Grzimek that crashed in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park in January 1959, whilst on an animal conservation mission.
