Four pre-series Gazelles were produced. C/n 02 was notably involved in the Arriel turbine flight testing, and did its maiden flight with the Arriel on the 7 Dec, 1974. The Arriel would later on be a hit, powering most of the AS 350 Ecureuil and the SA 365 Dauphin for example.
