The C-33 was a military version of the DC-2 with a cargo door and a DC-3 vertical tail, but the standard DC-2 wing. 18 examples were built. 36-84 was used by a general who commanded the new Spokane Air Depot in 1942. It had an accident at Mines Field (LAX), California on 22 March 1942 and was written off. Presumably it still flew back to Spokane first because it was declared a CL-26 category ground instructional airframe there on 31 December 1943. Assumed to have been taken at Spokane, the photo must have been taken after May 1942 when the red dot in the US star roundel was removed. This photo was added on 22 March 2025, and has since been viewed 80 times. |
