One of the most famous of all US aircraft is the Curtiss JN-4D Jenny, with more than 90% of American pilots during WWI receiving their primary instruction on the type. This example, one the first 25 of 585 built under licence by the Springfield Aircraft Corporation of Springfield, MA is on display at the Smithsonian NASM's Udvar-Hazy Center. It had been briefly in use as a US Air Service trainer at Hazelhurst Field at Mineola, NY before being acquired by the museum in Nov. 1918. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
