This Whirlwind was accepted by the USAF in August 1954 and assigned to the 310th Troop Carrier Squadron at Pope AFB, NC. it served with various further units around the US before being retired in December, 1967 and ferried to Offutt AFB for display. It now hangs from the roof (sorry this was the only angle I could get) at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
