The Impala mk.1 was produced under licence from Aermacchi by Atlas Aircraft Corporation in Transvaal. As well as the SAAF they served in Brasil, Argentina and (?) Ghana. It was a welcome surprise to see this newly restored example (as an MB-326 in Italian markings) at the wonderful Estrella Warbirds Museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
